I saw this on copyranter’s blog this morning. I can’t say for sure that it’s a real ad or if it was produced, but assuming it’s legit, it’s kind of hard to ignore certain imagery even if it was unintentional. This is something that should’ve been noticed before it left the agency.

They Don’t Make Muses the Way They Used To

If you’re anything like me, you pay close attention to the Billboard Hot 100. You may follow it to figure out which songs you need to purchase from iTunes, and I use it to pick songs I want to put on mix cd’s to give to high school girls. Anyway, you might be familiar with the current number one single, the Plain White T’s “Hey There Delilah”. You can click on the link and watch the video if you want, but let me save you the trouble by telling you it’s a terrible song.
The story of this song goes, as I learned in an article from the equally terrible USA Today, the singer from the Plain White T’s met this chick Delilah through a mutual friend. He went up to her and was all “Hey you’re hot, I wrote a song about you” even though at that time he didn’t, he was just trying to be smooth. So then this Delilah broad says “Ok, whatevs…I already have a boyfriend.” A year later, the guy writes the song, it becomes a number one hit, and now this Delilah girl can say “OMG you guys, that song is totally about me!”
It might sound like a lovely story but it’s amateur stuff. Delilah may have been the girl behind a number one song, but try being the inspiration behind a number one hit and four other top 10 singles by two rock legends. The picture above is of Pattie Boyd, the former Mrs. George Harrison and the former Mrs. Eric Clapton. She met George while filming A Hard Day’s Night, they got married and in 1969 he wrote “Something,” which became a number one song for the Beatles. In 1970, he writes “What is Life” and releases it as a single from his solo debut All Things Must Pass. That same year, George’s friend Eric Clapton forms Derek and the Dominoes and writes “Layla” and “Bell Bottom Blues” about Pattie, whom he was rumored to be fooling around with behind George’s back. George doesn’t even care, and he and Pattie eventually divorced in 1977. That was the year Clapton released his Slowhand album with the song “Wonderful Tonight,” another ballad for Pattie. They married in 1979 (George even went to the wedding), but divorced in 1988.
Seriously, that whole thing is ridiculous. But you know what, I have a muse like that too. Click below to see who she is!

Two brothers were gored at the same time by a bull during the running of the bulls festival in Pamplona, Spain.
This picture reminds me of that one scene from Requiem for a Dream. You know the one.
