…from the Dr Pepper Museum.
I promised more from our trip to the museum, and here it is. The latest exhibit at the world famous Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, TX is titled “Soft Drink Sweethearts.” It’s a look at how soft drink marketers, not just Dr Pepper, used attractive women (and sometimes men) to sell more drinks. The exhibit was filled predictably with ads of women in various stages of undress depending on what era the ads were from, but most interestingly (what!?!? something more interesting than women in various stages of undress?!?!) were the signs in the exhibit that offered a somewhat cynical and often damning look at the ad industry. Click below to take a look at my favorite quotes and my favorite ads from the exhibit.

I’ve been to the Louvre and Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the National Archives and the Air and Space Museum in D.C., and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Amateur stuff. Saturday I went to the greatest museum of all, and it was in Waco, TX. I finally made it to the Dr Pepper Museum.

The new Old Spice commercial from Wieden+Kennedy is not only interesting because it stars Carl Weathers as the “President of Old Spice Marketing”, but also because it introduces a non-traditional media idea (Tony Stewart’s armpits) within a traditional television spot. Amazing.
